Research profile

Marine biogeochemistry.

I am a marine biogeochemist investigating the coastal carbon cycle at regional and global scales with a focus on blue carbon ecosystems such as mangroves, salt marshes, seagrass meadows and macroalgae.

My research aims to close carbon budgets by quantifying benthic fluxes, carbon stocks, and greenhouse gas emissions. Using in situ observations, autonomous sampling technology, mesocosm experiments, and modelling approaches, I examine how coastal systems respond to environmental change and how they can contribute to climate change mitigation.

My career path across Germany, Australia, and Sweden has given me a strong international perspective and network that I actively bring into my research.
